Historical Notes:
The RMS Empress of Ireland was a passenger liner operated by the Canadian Pacific Steamships. Launched in 1906, she served the transatlantic route between Canada and Europe and was regarded as one of the finest liners operating on the North Atlantic.
In the early morning hours of May 29, 1914, the Empress of Ireland collided with the Norwegian coal ship SS Storstad in dense fog on the Saint Lawrence River near Pointe-au-Père. The Empress sank in just 14 minutes, resulting in the loss of 1,012 lives. The disaster remains the deadliest peacetime maritime tragedy in Canadian history and one of the worst shipwrecks of the 20th century.
Today, the Empress of Ireland is remembered for her beauty, her service across the Atlantic, and the tragic circumstances of her loss. This model serves as a tribute to an important chapter of maritime history while offering a unique display piece for collectors and ship enthusiasts.
This exclusive Empress of Ireland model combines craftsmanship, historical significance, and interactive design, making it a standout addition to any maritime collection.
